Mooresville town manager plans to retire at year’s end

Mooresville Town Manager Erskine Smith plans to retire at year’s end.

The Mooresville native was named to the post in June 2011. He has worked for the town since 1987, first as zoning administrator and then as planning director, assistant town manager and interim town manager.

Smith announced his retirement plans at Monday night’s Mooresville Board of Commissioners meeting.

“I am proud of the many accomplishments achieved during my career with Mooresville,” Smith said in a statement. “I have witnessed the creation and expansion of facilities and the development of numerous parks. “Together with the Town Board, we have purchased community centers, renovated the golf course, maintained a strong financial foundation and stabilized tax and utility rates.”
