Employee shot while locking up southwest Charlotte business

An employee at a business in southwest Charlotte was shot Monday night, according to police.

The incident happened just before 9 p.m. at All Seasons Sneakers on Woodlawn Road. Police said employees were locking up the store for the night and leaving through the back door when they were approached by three people.

Investigators have not released many details, but they said a fight ensued and the employees tried to run away. A shot was then fired, and one employee was shot.

That employee, whose name has not been released, was shot in the back and through the stomach but is expected to be OK.

The parking lot in front of the business was taped off.

There is no word on a motive or description of the suspected shooter, but police said no one had been taken into custody.
