20,000 gallons of raw sewage spills into Lake Norman
About 20,000 gallons of raw sewage spilled into a Lake Norman cove in eastern Lincoln County on Wednesday when a pump station malfunctioned.
The discharge lasted about 45 minutes, Chris Henderson of Lincoln County Public Works said Thursday.
The pump station is in the 4400 block of Burton Lane in Denver, N.C.
The sewage entered a cove in the Lakewood subdivision, Henderson said. The station was repaired and put back into service, he said.
