Two bodies were recovered this week from a small lake in Monroe, fire officials said.
The first body was pulled from the lake Sunday afternoon, and Monroe’s fire chief said a second body was found Monday. The fire chief said he does not anticipate there being anyone else to remove from the lake.
The investigation began after a passerby went to the firehouse at 3 p.m. to report a damaged guard rail on Quarry Road near South Sutherland Road. The person told firefighters that it looked like a car crashed through the guard rail. A car was later found in the lake and removed Monday.
When Monroe firefighters searched the pond Sunday, they found the first body. They don't know when the possible incident happened, but said it appeared as if the body was in the water for a while.
Police have yet to release the names of the two people pulled from the water.
