Missing Rock Hill boy found after brief police search
Police have found the Rock Hill boy who went missing Thursday afternoon.
Zy-Darris Baxter, 7, was found with a family member, according to Rock Hill Police.
Baxter, a student at Mount Gallant Elementary School, got off of the school bus around 1 p.m. at Whitgreen Street and Whitner Street.
He walked to his Whitgreen Street residence where his mother, Shawntese McCants, 36 was waiting.
Baxter may have knocked on the door, but after waiting, he went with a family relative to her residence, McCants said.
“My baby doesn’t that,” she said in referring to the possibility of him leaving with someone he doesn’t know.
He returned home around 2:30 p.m. unharmed. McCants was grateful for his safe recovery. “I was scared,” she said.
His brief disappearance set off a social media storm after Rock Hill Police posted his photo on Twitter.
The department later tweeted “Thanks for all help.”
