A young child was found unconscious on Farm Pond Lane by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department on Monday.
The child was pronounced dead upon arrival at Novant Presbyterian Hospital.
Detectives with the Homicide Unit and the Medical Examiner’s office determined the child died of a physical assault.
An investigation is underway, but no arrests have been made. The police said several adults were responsible for the child in the days leading up to his death.

These adults are being questioned. No names have been released.
