Officer hit while working accident on Interstate 77 near uptown
A Charltotte-Mecklenburg police officer was injured after being struck by a vehicle near uptown Monday morning, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police told the Observer’s news partner WBTV.
The incident happened around 7:44 a.m. on Interstate 77 north, near at John Belk Freeway, I-277. The officer, who was hospitalized with minor injuries, was apparently working an accident scene at the time.
It was one of two accidents along north bound Interstate 77 near Remount, which remains backed up.
