Two hurt in early morning shooting in north uptown Charlotte

A man and woman were hospitalized in a shooting in uptown Charlotte early Monday near Elmwood Cemetery, reports the Observer’s news partner WBTV.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police told WBTV they were called to the shooting around 1:16 a.m. in the 300 block of N. Clarkson Street, just off of W. 5th Street. It happened at the Orchard Park apartments.

Medic took the man and woman to the hospital with gunshot wounds, WBTV reports. The extent of their injuries have not been released, but they are expected to survive.

Police have not released any names or a possible motive.
