Moped driver caught riding on seat stuffed with illegal drugs

A moped driver stopped for having no tags ended up being arrested for drug possession after and Iredell County Sheriff’s Deputy discovered the guy was riding on a seat stuffed with oxycodone, hydrocodone and morphine pills.

Jerry A. White, 39, of 214 Cornwall Road in Harmony has been charged with three counts of possessing a controlled substance, possessing drug paraphernalia and driving an unregistered vehicle.

He was stopped Aug. 15 on West Memorial Highway in Harmony by a deputy who noticed the moped did not have a tag displayed. The deputy said he noticed White seemed very nervous and his hands were shaking.

A search discovered he possessed drug paraphernalia inside his pants pocket and a computer check revealed that White has a history of drug related charges. Further investigation resulted in seizing oxycodone, hydrocodone, and morphine pills from inside the moped/ scooter’s seat compartment as well as additional drug paraphernalia, officials said.
