Man with gun tries to rob woman at Gastonia ATM, but she speeds off
A man wearing a baseball cap under a black helmet tried to rob a woman at gunpoint at a Gastonia ATM last Friday, but she sped off before he could get her money, police said.
Police on Thursday released photographs of the man taken by a surveillance camera at the ATM in the 2900 block of South York Road (U.S. 321).
The man left in a black sedan, police said. The woman he tried to rob was uninjured.
Anyone with information about the assailant is asked to call Detective Jeff Wooten at 704-842-5127 or Crime Stoppers of Gaston County at 704-861-8000. Crime Stoppers pays cash for a tip that leads to an arrest.
