I-85 southbound lanes reopen in Gaston County

All lanes reopened about 5:45 p.m. Friday on Interstate 85 southbound in Gaston County after a wreck near the Catawba River bridge, state highway officials said.

The wreck happened about 5 p.m. near Exit 27 and originally shut four of the five lanes, officials said.

Congestion remains heavy as a result of the wreck, highway officials said shortly before 6 p.m.
