2 stabbed at ‘Oasis Tent’ on final night of CIAA tournament

Two people were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a stabbing at an event that catered to people attending the CIAA tournament.

According to an after-action report compiled by the city of Charlotte, police responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at the Oasis Tent at North College Street and Ninth Street.

When officers got there, they found two injured victims. Police have not released the names of the victims, who were taken to Carolinas Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Investigators have also not released the name or a description of a suspect in the stabbing.

The Oasis Tent, constructed last week in a parking lot, featured appearances by rappers Nikki Minaj and Meek Mill. Organizers called the Oasis Tent “an ultra-luxurious lounge with enough space for you (to) party to your heart content,” according to its website.

The stabbing happened six hours after two people were shot and injured at another event aimed at CIAA party-goers.

The shooting happened around 7 p.m. at the Label nightclub in the NC Music Factory complex Saturday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

When police arrived, they found a female with a gunshot wound; she was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Spokesman Rob Tufano. Soon after, another person also went to CMC with a gunshot wound.
