1 dead, another wounded Saturday in Concord shooting

One person was killed and another injured in a shooting Saturday night in Concord, police said.

Concord police said they arrived on Griffin Circle SW at 11:08 p.m. Saturday night to find Roddricus Eugene Neal, 25, and Shaquil Marquise Watkins, 22, in the street, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both were taken to Carolinas Medical Center North East, where Neal was pronounced dead.

While investigating, police said, they identified a suspect as Frederick Hopper Jr., 25, and had warrants issued for his arrest on charges of murder and attempted murder.

Police said Hopper turned himself in during the night and was placed in the Cabarrus County Jail. WBTV, Associated Press
