Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are searching for a man they said robbed a convenience store and a fast-food restaurant and then tried to get money from a Family Dollar on West Trade Street on Tuesday afternoon.

Police released video surveillance of the man in hopes someone will recognize him and report him to authorities.

The crimes happened at 12:38 p.m. at the Two Way Stop store at 1740 W. Trade St.; minutes later at Church’s Chicken, 1735 W. Trade St.; and then at 1:03 p.m. at the Family Dollar at 1720 W. Trade.

At the Two Way, the man handed a note to an employee demanding money. Once the man got the money, he left the premises.

At Church’s Chicken, the man threatened employees and demanded money, police said. He got the money and left, police said.

The man handed a note to an employee at the Family Dollar but left when the worker refused his demands, police said.

The suspect is described as a 50-year-old black man, about 5-feet-11 with a heavy build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, a blue sweater and blue jeans.
