Man wanted in Charlotte killing arrested in Raleigh
A man wanted in Sunday’s killing of 27-year-old Justin Reid at an east Charlotte apartment complex was arrested Wednesday during a traffic stop in Raleigh, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.
Brandon Lamar Medlin, 27, is charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
About 8 p.m. Sunday, police were called to the Pepper Tree apartments off Central Avenue near Eastway Drive to investigate an assault with a deadly weapon. They found a man later identified as Reid lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound.
Medic took Reid to Carolinas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Police ask that anyone with information in the case call 704-432-TIPS (8477) and speak with a homicide unit detective, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police had notified Raleigh police that Medlin was wanted for questioning by them. Raleigh police arrested him on an outstanding warrant for assault.
