Stanley man charged in sexual assault of teen
A Stanley man has been arrested and charged in the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.
Lincoln County sheriff’s Detective Dan Renn arrested Robert Anthony Douglas Waldrup, 23, on charges of statutory rape/sex offense of a 13-, 14- or 15-year-old victim by a defendant more than six years older and cyberstalking.
Waldrup was jailed Wednesday night on $25,000 bail.
During Waldrup’s first court appearance Thursday morning, a judge raised his bail to $100,000.
Investigators said the sexual assault happened sometime between Aug. 1 and Sept. 30, after the victim was driven to a relative’s house on Old Plank Road in eastern Lincoln County.
The cyberstalking charge stemmed from numerous text messages sent to the victim and her friends and family, investigators said.
