Police investigating fatal hit and run in east Charlotte
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police on Monday were investigating a hit and run in east Charlotte on Sunday that left one man dead.
Cesar Armando Ordonez, 66, was walking about 8:35 a.m. in the 6500 block of Albemarle Road near Farm Pond Lane when he was struck by a vehicle, police said. He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The vehicle that hit Ordonez did not remain at the scene. Detectives are trying to determine who the driver was.
Police said it appears Ordonez was crossing Albemarle Road in the inbound lanes when he was struck. Police believe the suspect vehicle continued inbound on Albemarle Road.
Monday afternoon, police released more information about the vehicle.
They want to locate a medium- or dark-colored mid- or full-size pick-up truck with front headlight or turn signal damage. The vehicle may be in the area of Sharon Amity Road, Eastway Drive, Central Avenue or Albemarle Road, authorities said.
Detectives are reviewing video camera footage to try to get more information on that vehicle.
