Charlotte man charged in wife’s killing
Police have charged a Charlotte man in the killing of his wife Sunday in a home in the 8300 block of Carter Creek Drive, off East Independence Boulevard.
Ray Edward Matheson, 23, was charged with murder late Monday in the death of his wife, Amber Nicole Matheson, 24.
About 12:55 p.m. Sunday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police were called to the home and found Amber Matheson dead. Her husband had what appeared to be self-inflicted knife wounds, police said.
Ray Matheson was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, police said. Nothing indicates anyone else was home when Amber Matheson was killed, police said.
Once Matheson is released from the hospital, he will be transferred to the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, police said.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to call 704-432-TIPS (8477) and speak with a homicide unit detective, or call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
