Pickup sought in Albemarle Road hit-and-run fatality

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the mid- to full-size GMC or Chevrolet pickup that struck and killed pedestrian Cesar Armando Ordonez on Albemarle Road in east Charlotte on Sunday night and then drove away.

Ordonez, 66, appeared to have been struck while crossing Albemarle’s inbound lanes near Farm Pond Lane, police said. He was struck about 8:35 p.m.

Medic took Ordonez to Carolinas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The pickup will have front headlight and/or turn signal damage, police said.

The vehicle may be in the area of Sharon Amity Road, Eastway Drive, Central Avenue or Albemarle Road, police Detective R.C. Gormican said.

Police said they are reviewing video camera footage to get information on the vehicle.
