Salisbury man who fled jury verdict arrested in Winston-Salem

A Salisbury man who never returned to the Rowan County Courthouse as a jury deliberated his fate last week was caught in Winston-Salem on Wednesday, authorities said.

Reginald Dean “Weasel” Oglesby, 39, was convicted last week of selling cocaine.

At the close of arguments and jury instructions on Thursday, the jury began its deliberations. The jurors reached a guilty verdict in about 20 minutes, but Oglesby never returned to court, authorities said. He wasn’t in custody at the time and was free on bond.

Oglesby, who also is a registered sex offender, was arrested by SBI agents and Winston-Salem police.

He is now scheduled to appear before a Superior Court judge this week for sentencing on the drug conviction, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said.
