Public identifies YMCA thief suspect

Authorities have issued arrest warrants for a thief suspect who was shown on surveillance footage pushing a baby carriage after credit cards were stolen at East Rowan YMCA on Feb. 23.

Thanks to tips from the public, Rowan County sheriff’s investigators have identified Witt Darnell Alexander Jr., 22, of Salisbury as a suspect and issued warrants charging him with larceny, financial card theft and obtaining property by false pretense.

Anyone with information on Alexander’s whereabouts is asked to call sheriff’s Detective Ollie Greene at 704-216-8686, Lt. Chad Moose at 704-216-8687 or Crime Stoppers at 866- 639-5245.
