71-year-old man charged in Lincoln County drug case

Lincoln County sheriff’s investigators arrested an elderly Gaston County man on a charge of supplying prescription drugs in the area.

Alvis Clatis Coon, 71, of Bessemer City was charged with trafficking in opiates by transportation, sale and possession, and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance. Coon is free on $100,000 bail.

On Saturday, investigators set up a buy-bust operation and said they seized about 200 hydrocodone prescription pain pills, $2,000 cash and Coon’s 2007 Kia Optima.
