Mom arrested after 1-year-old son dies at Charlotte hospital
A Caldwell County woman has been arrested in the death of her 1-year-old son.
Sheriff’s investigators charged 25-year-old Heather Ray Brewer of Granite Falls with second-degree murder after her son died at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.
Investigators received a report of abuse with physical injuries last Wednesday. The infant died on Thursday, the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.
Brewer was in the Caldwell County Detention Center on Monday on $1 million bail. Her first court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
The sheriff’s office said it is releasing no other information about the case.
