Rock Hill woman claims Monet artwork, jewelry stolen in Craigslist scam

A Rock Hill woman told police that $13,000 in jewelry and paintings — including a Monet watercolor — are missing from her home, and the heist may have come from someone she met on Craigslist.

The woman, 49, told officers Friday that the suspect came to her home on Marett Boulevard two months ago to look at some items that she wanted to sell. At that time she told officers she told the man that she was not willing to sell the three paintings that include a Blue Boy and Pink Girl collector pieces, as well as the Monet.

Then last week, the suspect allegedly called her back trying to sell her jewelry back to her, yet the woman had not noticed that she had any jewelry missing. After inspecting her home the woman found the jewelry gone as well as the three paintings, according to the police report.

No arrests have been made.
