Man killed in northwest Charlotte

A 28-year-old man was fatally shot Friday in a neighborhood off Freedom Drive, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

Patrol officers found Muhammad Clyburn with a gunshot wound in the backyard of a home in the 1500 block of Elswick Lane about 5:30 a.m. Medic pronounced him dead at the scene.

Detectives went through the neighborhood looking for witnesses.
