Man arrested in robberies of Shelby CVS
Shelby police said they quickly arrested a suspect after the CVS Pharmacy on West Dixon Boulevard was robbed Friday.
Witnesses told police the robber got into a blue mini-van driven by a woman. The van headed west on U.S. 74 after the holdup shortly before 1 p.m., witnesses told police.
Officers caught up with the van as it turned onto Old Boiling Springs Road. The man jumped out and ran, but police soon detained him, Police Chief Jeff Ledford said.
Keith Allen Blanton, 52, of Shelby was charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and jailed with bail set at $40,000.
The van driver hasn’t been charged, police said.
The second charge against Blanton involved a robbery of the same CVS Feb. 12. No one was injured in either robbery, police said.
