Shooting victim makes it to Urgent Care, taken to hospital

A person was shot and seriously injured on Sunday but managed to get to an Urgent Care facility on Albemarle Road, where the victim was transported to the hospital.

Police haven’t released details about the shooting, including the precise location. The shooting happened sometime before 6 p.m., and the victim made it to the facility, which treats minor injuries and ailments, at Albemarle Road and Reddman Road, near the Eastland Mall site.

The victim had life-threatening injuries, paramedics said.

Late Sunday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police investigators could be seen going in and out of the entrance to the facility, removing brown bags filled with evidence. They declined to answer reporters’ questions.

Police encouraged anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Tipsters are eligible for a reward for information that leads to an arrest.
