A Rock Hill woman was charged with unlawful conduct toward a child Monday when a police officer found her drunk and naked on her couch while a child, 3, wandered around the house.

Police responded to a home on Springer Court in reference to an accident around 3:30 p.m. Monday. The officer found a car in front of the house with the passenger side door ripped off the hinge, according to a police report. The door to the house was open and he could see Barbara Jenkins, 46, asleep on the couch.

The officer yelled several times to wake up Jenkins, who had a container of beer next to her. She was not wearing any clothes, the report stated.

After putting on clothes, Jenkins, who had difficulty maintaining her balance, told the officer her husband had been in the accident, but that he’d been at work since 8 a.m. She then said the car was stolen.

The officer noticed four beer bottles. One was half full and another was shattered on the ground.

Jenkins was charged with unlawful conduct toward a child and taken into custody. The child was released to his grandfather and the Department of Social Services was notified.
