Two Charlotte men arrested in convenience store robberies

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have charged two suspects in last Saturday’s robbery of the QuikTrip convenience store in the 7100 block of South Boulevard.

Police also charged one of the suspects in Friday’s robbery of the Circle K convenience store in the 1300 block of Sharon Road West.

Police said the suspect in the Circle K robbery, Bryant Darnell Ragland, 55, of Charlotte confronted them with a knife after a brief foot chase, but complied when officers told him to drop the weapon.

On Thursday, police charged Lee Sylvester Carrington, 34, of Charlotte in the QuikTrip robbery. Police said they identified Carrington through video surveillance footage from the store.

Police found Carrington on Nations Ford Road. He was arrested after a brief foot chase.

In a statement after Ragland’s arrest Friday, CMPD said it wanted to commend “the restraint and excellent tactics” used by officers from the department’s Steele Creek Division “to safely achieve this arrest when faced with what was clearly an imminent active aggression by the suspect.

“The hard work and excellent investigations conducted by both detectives and officers in each of these cases led to a quick arrest of both suspects,” the statement said.

Anyone with information in the cases is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
