York police find 15-year-old girl drunk at motel

Police in York found a 4 foot 10 inch tall, 90-pound, 15-year-old girl wearing pink pajamas who was allegedly drunk before 8 a.m. at a York motel this week.

In the incident Wednesday, a cashier called police after the pajama-clad minor came into the store while apparently drunk, according to a York Police Department report. The cashier watched the girl walk back to the Knights Inn motel in York.

Responding officers smelled alcohol on the child’s breath and the child had “glassy, bloodshot eyes,” and was swaying, according to the report.

Officers talked to a female cousin who said that she took the child and her own three children to the motel because she found a snake, possibly a copperhead, in the bedroom of her York home. After everyone else went to sleep, the child left the room and linked up with others who bought her at least four Smirnoff Ice drinks.

The child’s grandfather was called to take custody of her as officers searched for the person who bought the alcohol for potential charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
