Teen accused of YouTube video threats against Lake Norman High School
Authorities are investigating a teenager in connection with threats made in YouTube videos against Lake Norman High School in Mooresville.
“The videos were of a graphic nature involving violent shootings from a video game and being narrated by a juvenile directed at the school,” Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said on Facebook this week. The student had already been suspended for making a similar verbal threat a week earlier, according to the sheriff.
“The videos were disturbing, and all threats are taken very seriously in this matter,” Campbell said. “I have a zero tolerance when it comes to threats against our students and faculty at our schools.”
The 15-year-old student may face a charge of making a false report concerning mass violence on educational property, a felony, the Statesville Record & Landmark reported. The student also was suspended last school year in connection with a weapon on school property and a threat of violence at another school, Campbell said.
