Man stabbed to death at Charlotte inn

A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death during a fight early Tuesday at the Brookwood Inn in the 1200 block of West Sugar Creek Road, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

Police identified the victim as Jovonte Martell-Moss Franks.

Police released video surveillance images of a suspect in the stabbing and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.

Police were called to the scene shortly after midnight, and Medic pronounced Franks dead at the scene.

Police said they were canvassing the area for witnesses. The inn is off Interstate 85 in northeast Charlotte.
