Lincolnton man charged in theft of firearms, cash and coins
A Lincolnton man was arrested this week in the theft of cash, collectible coins and six long guns from safes in a home in the 200 block of Old Barn Road in Iron Station.
The thefts are believed to have occurred when two men were making repairs to the home last fall, Lincoln County sheriff’s investigators said.
Jeremy Neal McDougal, 25, one of the men who made the repairs, was charged with felony larceny of a firearm and possession of stolen goods. He was jailed with bail set at $10,000.
The resident reported the thefts to deputies Feb. 4, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday. The resident had just noticed cash and coins missing from a safe, investigators said.
Investigators discovered that the coins were pawned Nov. 21 at Boger City Pawn Shop on East Main Street in Lincolnton.
