Cleveland County couple charged in sexual assault of child
A Cleveland County woman and her boyfriend have been charged in the April 10 sexual assault of the woman’s 5-year-old child at the Broad River Greenway in Boiling Springs, Sheriff Alan Norman said.
Sheriff’s investigators learned of the assault after responding Saturday to Cleveland Regional Medical Center, where the child had been taken, Norman said.
Investigators charged the child’s mother, Laura Mims, 27, with felony child abuse by sex act and her boyfriend, Andrew Bulgara, 21, with three counts of first-degree sexual offense.
The couple live together in Grover, Norman said.
Bulgara was jailed with bail set at $750,000. Mims was jailed with a bail set at $500,000.
