Rock Hill Police have arrested a 37-year-old man accused of kidnapping a woman from the parking lot of a bar last week.

Authorities say the incident happened last Wednesday at the Rock Hill Tavern on Celanese Road around 1:30 a.m. The 33-year-old woman told officers that she was in the parking lot, getting her wallet from her car when two men threatened her with a kitchen knife and demanded that she get in her car with them and drive, according to the police report.

One of the men is Omar Cruz Gonzalez of Rock Hill, according to police records. He was charged on Sunday when officers found him sleeping in a car on Amelia Avenue, police records state.

Officers have not released the identity of a second man suspected in the incident.

Police say Gonzalez forced the woman to leave Rock Hill Tavern and drive to Harris Teeter on Celanese Road, reports state. The York County Sheriff’s Office is investigating part of the incident which took place in the grocery store parking lot, located just outside city limits.

The woman told officers that Gonzalez and another man threatened to kill her if she called police, according to the incident report. She said they took her cell phone and she ran into the woods behind Harris Teeter.

She was injured during the kidnapping, police say, and she was treated at Piedmont Medical Center.

When officers arrested Gonzalez, they found two cell phones in the car with him, police records show.
