Statesville man charged in child sex assaults

A 40-year-old Statesville man has been accused of sexually assaulting a child for several years beginning in 2005, Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said.

Marcus Jerome Briggs was charged this week with first-degree rape of a child and four counts of taking indecent liberties with a child. He was jailed on $200,000 bail.
