Man shot to death in northeast Charlotte, killer at large
Police found a man shot to death in northeast Charlotte Wednesday afternoon and officers were trying to find his killer, who remained at large.
The shooting happened around 4 p.m. Wednesday on St. Johns Church Road, near East W.T. Harris Boulevard and the Plaza Road Extension.
Late Wednedsay, police identified the victim as 40-year-old Toby Washington. Investigators haven’t released a name or a description of the person suspected in the killing.
Officers were called to the scene for an assault with a deadly weapon call and found Washington suffering from the fatal wound. He was transported to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.
Police had not released a motive in the killing, but in the statement, they said detectives had determined the shooting was not a random act of violence.
