CMPD cracking down on seat belt violators
A four-hour seat belt crackdown at College and Seventh streets in uptown Charlotte Wednesday morning led to 80 traffic citations issued by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, CMPD Sgt. David Sloan said.
The citations included 47 for seat belt violations, 19 for registration violations, two for driving while license revoked and one for texting while driving, Sloan said.
Wednesday’s crackdown, combined with six similar operations since March 25, led to a total of 233 seat belt/child seat citations and 420 other citations, Sloan said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police intend to conduct numerous additional operations during the “Click it or Ticket” campaign May 18-31 conducted by the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, Sloan said.
