Iredell authorities charge man with indecent liberties

Iredell County authorities said Friday they have charged a man with eight counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Leonard Jay Hayes, 48, was arrested Thursday, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said. The female victim was under age 16, the office said.

The agency had received a report in March that lewd acts were committed on the girl during a two-month period last year in the northern part of the county.
