Man charged after school bus driver cursed and yelled at

The Union County Sheriff’s Office has charged a man who was videotaped cursing and yelling at a Union County Public Schools bus driver Friday.

Investigators charged Michael Dwayne Greene, 54, of Wingate, with disorderly conduct involving a public school bus.

Greene turned himself in at the sheriff’s office and was given a court date of June 6.

Deputies were made aware of the incident on Monday, when a report was filed by the Union County school system, Sheriff Eddie Cathey said.

Because Greene was unknown at the time of the report, the sheriff’s office turned to social media to identify him, the sheriff said.

Soon after the man’s picture was posted on the sheriff’s office Facebook page, tips flooded in, Cathey said.

Before the sheriff’s office could start tracking down the tips, Greene came to the office to offer to give a statement, the sheriff said.

Up to 30 students were on the bus when Greene got out of his truck to yell at the bus driver over a traffic move he didn’t like, sheriff’s Capt. J.C. Luke said Wednesday.
