Bicyclist fatally hit by SUV near Queens University of Charlotte

A 55-year-old woman died Saturday after she was struck by an SUV while riding her bike near Queens University of Charlotte.

Police were called to the 2200 block of Selwyn Avenue at Bucknell Avenue just before 11 a.m., where the victim, Stacy Stranick, had just been hit by an Acura.

The driver of the Acura was traveling on Selwyn Avenue when the vehicle attempted to turn onto Bucknell Avenue, police said. Stranick entered the intersection on her bike at the same time and collided with the SUV, police said.

Stranick was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where she died.

The driver, 69-year-old Margaret Tidwell Seneker, was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, police said.

Seneker, of Tennessee, was also charged with failing to yield the right of way, police said. Alcohol and speed weren't factors in the crash.
