Concord man arrested in robbery of driver stopped at light
Concord police have arrested and charged a man who they accuse of getting into a woman’s car while she was stopped at a light, pulling out a knife and robbing her.
Police charged Tommy Richard Dabbs, 36, with armed robbery, second-degree kidnapping, communicating threats and financial transaction card fraud.
Dabbs was in the Cabarrus County jail Saturday on $30,000 bail.
About 7 a.m. Tuesday, the victim was stopped at the light at Old Charlotte and Union Cemetery roads when a man entered her car on the passenger side, police said.
The man forced the woman to drive to a bank ATM and withdraw $500, police said. The robber then told the victim to drive him back to the location where he got into her car. The man also took her cell phone before he exited the car.
