'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' star arrested in Myrtle Beach

An actor who started on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and was in Myrtle Beach for XCon World Comic Convention was arrested Saturday on a public intoxication charge, according to authorities.

Nicholas Brendon, 44, was charged with public intoxication at 12 a.m. Saturday, according to Myrtle Beach jail records. He was taken into custody in the 100 block of North Kings Highway.

Brendon was in town for the XCon convention and spoke to the group Saturday night about his time playing Xander Harris on the television show that ran 1997 to 2003.

On Twitter, Andrea Albin, a film producer, said Saturday on Brendon’s behalf that “We are not releasing any comments or statements regarding today's events. Thank you. -@andreaalbin”

Later, Brendon posted a photo of himself on the beach and said “Twatters I love you all. Healing waters of Myrtle Beach. We are all human.”

Myrtle Beach police Lt. Joey Crosby said Monday there were no other details to be released about Brendon’s arrest.

It is the third arrest this year for Brendon.

He was arrested in February on charges after he refused to pay the bill at a Florida hotel. In March, the actor was arrested and charged with criminal mischief and property damage at another Tallahasee, Fla. hotel, the Associated Press reported at the time.

Brendon said at the time that a warrant for his arrest in Florida was a "huge misunderstanding."

At the time of the March arrest, Brendon's spokeswoman released a statement saying he hasn't used drugs or alcohol since his arrest last month, and he's "looking forward to clearing up this situation and continuing his path to recovery."

When he was arrested in February, Brendon told reporters he had been dealing with depression, took sleeping pills and went "into a blackout," the Associated Press reported.

More details will be posted as they become available.
