Man was held captive and beaten for three nights in north Charlotte home, police say
Four people are accused of kidnapping a man and holding him captive for three nights in a north Charlotte home, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said Thursday.
The victim told police he went to a friend's house in the 8300 block of Highlander Court on Sunday night. Four people in the home then made accusations against him, tied him to a chair and assaulted him, police said.
The assaults happened numerous times over the course of the three nights, police said. The suspects assaulted the victim with a machete and a baseball bat, causing minor injuries, according to police.
The man was able to escape the home Wednesday morning and asked a neighbor for help, police said.
The four people — Carnis Poindexter Jr., 18, Monazha Thompson, 18, Mikkaala Lewis, 31, and Carnis Poindexter Sr., 52 — were arrested Wednesday, police said.
The victim knew the four suspects, according to police. Each faces charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, communicating threats, kidnapping, and assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Poindexter Sr. was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
