Elderly woman bilked by scam caller

Authorities are again warning about scam callers after an elderly Stanly County woman reported being bilked by a caller who claimed to be a computer repairman.

The woman reported to sheriff’s investigators on Monday that the male caller told her to wire $2,431 to India to have her computer fixed.

She told investigators she wired the amount twice.

Police advise homeowners to try to get the caller’s number and relay it to law enforcement and never wire money to such callers.
