Police arrest man accused of killing woman last month near uptown
A man was arrested Friday after he was wanted for the murder of a woman who was killed in May near uptown.
Santario Miller, 22, faces a murder charge in 39-year-old Shalamar Venable's death.
Venable was shot in the 900 block of North Tryon Street on May 21, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said. She was taken to Carolinas Medical Center, where she died.
Officials identified Miller as a suspect a few days after Venable's death and obtained warrants for his arrest.
Police learned Miller was at a home in Gastonia on Friday, and arrested him with assistance from Gastonia police officials.
Miller also is facing a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, police said.
