Two dogs were shot on Lasalle Street Saturday night — one by an unknown suspect and one by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer, according to a CMPD press release.

Someone shot at an occupied home around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, injuring the first dog, police said.

While officers were investigating that incident, a dog from another home ran over and “charged” toward an officer,” police said. He shot the dog.

On Twitter Saturday night, police said both dogs appeared to be alive.

No humans were reported injured during this incident or another incident that happened around the same time, which police said was related.

In that case, people reportedly shot at each other in the 300 block of North Hoskins Road, about two miles from the Lasalle Street scene. Police found shell casings, and no homes were struck, according to a CMPD press release.
