A teenager was found dead with a gunshot wound north of uptown Charlotte on Monday morning — the latest victim of gun violence after a bloody weekend in Charlotte.

Psi’keem Walker, 19, was found near East 16th Street and the Little Sugar Creek Greenway. He was Charlotte’s 31st homicide victim so far in 2018.

Early Sunday, a high school football player was killed early Sunday in southwest Charlotte, and a teenager was quickly arrested and charged with murder.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to at least three gunfire incidents Saturday evening. A 6-year-old girl was shot in the leg while playing outside a home in north Charlotte. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Around the same time, someone shot at a house on Lasalle Street and injured a dog, police said. While officers were investigating that shooting, another dog “charged” at an officer, who shot it. Both dogs survived, according to police.

Someone also reported gunshots on North Hoskins Road, minutes after the Lasalle Street shooting. Police believe those cases are related, according to a CMPD press release.
