Homicide detectives are investigating after a woman was found dead in southwest Charlotte on Monday, but the cause of death has not been determined yet, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said Tuesday.

The woman was found Monday evening in a wooded area in the 200 block of Ann Marie Drive, which is off Nations Ford Road.

She apparently died several days before she was found, police said.

Her body did not show signs of trauma, police said, but the Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner is still investigating to find out what happened.

Late Tuesday afternoon, police said they were still working to identify the woman.
