CMS teacher admitted to kissing, fondling student on campus, warrant says

Investigators in Charlotte are searching a cell phone belonging to a former teacher they say admitted to having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Anthony Gonzalez, 25, was arrested in May and charged with felony indecent liberties with a student. According to a search warrant released Tuesday, Gonzalez admitted having the relationship when the principal of Mallard Creek High School questioned him about it.

The principal then called police who say Gonzalez told them he had kissed and fondled the student in his office at the school. The warrant states Gonzalez and the student had been “texting each other for months.”

When he was arrested on May 18, police say Gonzalez had a cell phone on him and consented to the phone being searched. Investigators say they still requested a warrant to search the phone “out an abundance of caution” to be certain the search was lawful.

There is no word if any incriminating evidence was found on the phone.

Gonzalez was released on bond on May 19.
